Culminus Vol.III Playing Cards

Inspired by eschatological literature of the postexilic period, Culminus form the third and final volume in my Light versus Darkness series of deluxe, dark art poker playing cards. Culminus aims to represent ultimate evil and ultimate good with two standalone deck designs, Infernum and Infiniti, where infernal devils are seeking to wreak havoc to neutral men, and ethereal guardians are trying to stop them. In its essence, Culminus symbolises the moral compass and ethic dilemmas that all monarchs have faced in history and time as saints and sinners.

Each edition will have a limited print run of 1,900

INFINITI - The Guardians of Light (Vi Luminis), are comprised of celestial demigods who protect the weak and innocent from harm by placing themselves between the devils and their targets. Court panel texts reads ‘A passage for the crippled, and a light for the blind.”

INFERNUM - The Monarchy of Darkness (Exercitum Diaboli) is comprised of fiends, a succubus, infernal devils and Lucifer himself, who all have unique ways to corrupt the minds of neutral men. Court panel texts reads ‘Hell itself can not be conquered.”

BACKS

INFINITI - The Infiniti backs are designed as a powerful and organic artwork printed in golden, metallic pantone, and designed to represent honesty, loyalty, justice, power and peace through angel wings and fleur de lis.

INFERNUM - The Infernum backs have diabolic artwork in golden, metallic pantone, with a devils’ skull to represent hell and gothic demonology. The tip of the trident is placed on the head to simulate power and a kings crown taken by force and dark magic.

Jokers

Both Infernum and Infiniti has a set of two matching jokers. The designer want the jokers to represent the path of damnation and the path of salvation.

Tuckboxs

Matte, deluxe tuck cases designed with both exterior and interior gold foil + embossed artwork. Black-brown stock for the Infernum tuck and Ivory matte stock for the Infiniti tuck will ensure that these decks stand out in your collection.

Cards

The courts of Culminus are represented by restless devils fighting tireless guardians in eternal battle. Six devils who are passionately engaged in destroying the moral compass of neutral men, and six celestial guardians, with unbreakable spirits trying to secure the justice, peace and prosperity that is the light of this world. Each character is drawn in hand in collaboration with award winning illustrator Patrick Leis, and has a unique backstory that will be available to all Kickstarter backers. The Infernum deck has black cards matching the Dominus Obscura deck for consistency, while the Infiniti deck has a clean, white design to match it’s predecessor, the Dominus Divinus deck. Both decks have unique, distinctive pips, and an added index ornamentation as a ‘series finale’ touch to the design.
